Facebook is doing
something big again, or is this one big fiasco waiting to happen?
Facebook is the largest social media site out there today.
Facebook is a great way to communicate with family and friends from near and
far. Facebook is always looking for ways to increase their features and
services to their customers that will make their platform more user friendly
and convenient. With that being said,
Facebook has taken their social media site a step further.
Facebook has decided that they will start allowing their
customers to purchase tickets through their platform. You will have an option to click on “buy
tickets” and the click will lead you directly to the Ticketmaster website or
whatever ticketing platform that is associated with the event.
This can be a great asset to an event planner. If you are
planning an event, you can advertise your event through Facebook, which is free
and then you can allow the customer to purchase tickets directly from your
event advertisement.
As an event planner though, this is something that should
really be evaluated before signing on to. Anything new needs to be evaluated and tried
many times prior to signing on to it. A person’s business is very valuable and
the reputation is critical. Even if that
process fails for one of your events and it’s the ticketing agents or
Facebook’s fault, your company will be blamed for it by your customers.
Facebook is a great way to advertise, but be mindful of the
perks that may make it an even easier process. Buying tickets through Facebook can be the
next best thing or the next worse thing. The one thing that I do appreciate
Facebook for is for knowing immediately what works and what doesn’t work. You
can believe and can rest assure that if it doesn’t work, they will shut the
process down immediately. In any event,
don’t let your company be the fall guy.
